Caminando & Avlando retraces the path of a woman, Jeanne Nadjari whose love for her cousin Henri saved her from the concentration camps during World War II. Despite her life punctuated by many exiles, this survivor relentlessly progressed along her path searching for a welcoming land, the country that would become her own. A place where, she would say, her family could live peacefully.
Created like a documentary,Caminando & Avlando testifies to the great events of the 20th century that have disrupted millions of lives and are registered in space and time. There are important dramatic events that have marked La Nona’s journey forever.

The magnificent Nona is an instantly lovable character: from her mind, simple, yet meaningful words flow forth and from her life experience, intriguing, unresolved mysteries unravel. […] Nona is the very embodiment of resilience driving the forces of life and love. This incursion into a minute piece of history, strategically carried by anecdote-based writing, dons a powerfully evocative human dimension.

Pictures and video documentaries are emphasized with live, superimposed screenings, puppets and shadow figures. Aboard a bus converted into a plane, this journey unfolds in an astonishingly seamless flow across time and space. But most importantly, the audience is drawn into a near serene state despite the utter tragedy of the story.
